Pastoral Care

Dear Church Family,

We’ve been dealing with so many changes in our daily lives  and some days it feels overwhelming. If you are someone who is feeling increasingly isolated or if you become aware of someone who is struggling, please call any member of the Pastoral Care Team. Our family at St. Andrew’s has always shown such love and concern for others so please continue to reach out to those you have been unable to see, or hug, with a phone call, an email or a text. We are so blessed to have each other.

Here are the members of our Pastoral Care Team: Marg Gilchrist, Shirley Crocker, Leslie Norrie, Cheryl Palmer (Prayer Shawl ministry) and Sue Moir.

1Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Meet our Pastoral Care Team Leader – Marg Gilchrist. Marg comes to us with many years of pastoral experience. She has received training in Stephens Ministry and used this training in her position in pastoral care at St. James United. Marg will recruit, equip and support volunteer visitors from members of our church family. She will also pass along any major concerns to our Session elders in the absence of a Pastor.

Marg grew up in Guelph and moved to Parry Sound in 1975. Marg worked for many years in the health care profession and retired in 2010. Marg comes to us with many years of pastoral experience.

Marg is married to Steve and the proud mother of Steve, Jr., and Heather. She is also the best Gramma to Veronica and Cole. Should you know of anyone in need of a call or visitation yourself because of illness, being homebound or in a nursing home, please contact Marg at 705-746-2258 or email her at marggilchrist@hotmail.com

May God richly bless this ministry and support all those struggling with illness and loneliness. Since we have outgrown our “elder district” model, this ministry is increasingly important to the spiritual health of St. Andrew’s. Thanks Marg for stepping forward.
