Pastoral Care & Prayer
Walking with one another through life’s joys and challenges
At St. Andrew’s, pastoral care is at the heart of who we are. We believe no one should feel alone, especially during times of illness, grief, transition, or isolation.
Pastoral Care offers prayer, presence, listening, and compassionate support for individuals and families within our church community. Whether you are navigating a difficult season or know someone who could use a caring connection, we are here.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Our Pastoral Care Ministry
Pastoral Care at St. Andrew’s is grounded in relationship and community. Care may take many forms — a phone call, a visit, prayer, or simply a listening ear. This ministry exists to remind each person that they are seen, valued, and supported.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or concerned about someone else, we encourage you to reach out. Often, a small act of care can make a meaningful difference.
Our Pastoral Care Team
Members of the Pastoral Care Team include:
- Pastor Melissa Horkins
- Marg Gilchrist (Team Lead)
- Cheryl Palmer (Prayer Shawl Ministry)
- Shirley Crocker
- Leslie Norrie
- Sue Moir
- Sally O’Connor
Pastoral care is a ministry of presence; walking alongside one another through all seasons of life. Together, they offer care rooted in faith, kindness, and respect.
If you know someone who would benefit from a call or visit, or if you are in need of care yourself due to illness, being homebound, living in a care residence, or simply wanting someone to talk and pray with, please reach out. You are not alone. God is with you and so are we. Marg is waiting to welcome you and offer you hope and support.

Prayer & Support
Prayer is an essential part of pastoral care at St. Andrew’s. If you would like prayer for yourself or for someone you love, you are warmly invited to submit a prayer request.
You may do so privately through our Prayer Request form, or by contacting the church office. All requests are treated with care and confidentiality.
