Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Meeting is a gentle, caring ministry where women gather to knit and crochet prayer shawls, lifting each stitch in prayer.

Once completed, the shawls are lovingly prayed over and shared with members of the church and wider community who may need comfort, encouragement, or to feel wrapped in prayer and God’s love. Each shawl includes a small, personal label — a gentle reminder that it has been created and given as a prayerful gift from the Prayer Shawl Group at St. Andrew’s.

This ministry is a quiet but powerful expression of compassion, offering warmth not only through yarn, but through prayer, presence, and faith.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

A Shared Story

"When my brother William passed away in the spring of 2024, I came to church carrying deep grief. An elder approached me and shared that the group had been praying for me and my family. She then wrapped me in a beautiful, hand-crafted prayer shawl. That shawl now sits in my living room, and I reach for it in moments of uncertainty, loneliness, and isolation, as a tangible reminder of Jesus’ love and the prayers of this caring community."
